His face has launched a thousand laughs and he’s coming to South Portland. Maine Event Comedy presents Johnny Ater at Island Dog Brewing, Saturday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. The show will also feature Timothy Lovett, Chris Thomas, and Scott McLaughlin.
Whether he’s taking light-hearted swipes at himself and his fellow Mainers, or contorting his face into hilarious characters, Ater has left audiences laughing throughout New England and beyond since 2003. He’s performed at the Punchline in San Francisco, headlined the Maine Comedy Festival, and recently provided voice-over work for an Agren Appliance television campaign.
Lovett hails from Northampton, Mass. He’s a witty, high-energy comic who infuses an element of surprise into each of his performances. In 2014 he founded ‘Comedy as a Weapon’ with a mission to help others through laughter.
Originally from Cleveland, Thomas weaves his unique perspective on society and culture into hilarious stories. He’s worked Laugh Boston, ImprovBoston, Nick’s Comedy Stop, and the Rhode Island Comedy Connection.
Boston’s McLaughlin is a regular at the world famous “Comedy Studio” and was selected for the Boston Comedy and Arts Festival.
The show is free and for ages 21-and-older. Island Dog Brewing is located at 125 John Roberts Road in South Portland, Unit 15 on the backside of the building. FMI text 207-513-0742 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
